DOVER, FL – A male cyclist suffered fatal injuries after he was struck by a big rig on SR-574 near Sydney Dover Road Tuesday, The Patch reports. 

The cyclist, 37, had allegedly failed to yield while cycling and collided with the truck as a result. 

Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the details behind the collision and has not announced any criminal charges.

TARPON SPRINGS, FL – One pedestrian lost their life, and another pedestrian was left with unspecified injuries after a crash south of Al Anderson Park Sunday.

WTSP said that the collision occurred at the intersection of U.S. 19 and Klosterman Road and warranted a response from Tarpon Springs police and Florida Highway Patrol. After arriving, officials shut down the southbound directions for the standard scene clearance and investigation.

Police haven’t confirmed whether the driver who struck the pedestrians would be facing charges at this time.

THONOTOSASSA, FL – At least one person was killed in a four-vehicle collision that happened on I-75 North Saturday, ABC Action News reports. 

After arriving, Florida Highway Patrol and crews shut down the area along mile marker 264 for the accident scene clearance process and have reopened all lanes since. 

Troopers have not announced the victim’s name at this time or said if anyone else was injured in the multi-vehicle crash.

TAMPA, FL – A man lost his life in a fatal pedestrian crash in the Highland Pines Park area Friday morning, WFLA reports. 

The pedestrian was struck by the car while crossing the intersection of North 50th Street and East 23rd Avenue around 5 a.m. Tampa police said the male driver swerved in an attempt to avoid hitting the walker but could not. 

Moments later, the pedestrian succumbed to his injuries.

BRADENTON, FL – A 12-year-old girl was airlifted to a hospital following a pedestrian crash that happened in the West Samoset area Wednesday.

According to My SunCoast, the preteen girl was struck by the vehicle at 15th Street East and 13th Avenue. Preliminary details showed that she was running to catch her bus prior to the collision.

The girl is recovering from foot and left lacerations.

SARASOTA, FL – At least one person sustained minor injuries as a result of a three-vehicle crash that happened along the Sarasota Fairgrounds last Saturday, April 26.

The collision happened on the westbound lanes just before 3:45 p.m., according to My Sun Coast. The impacted vehicles appear to be a red sedan, a dark-colored car, and an SUV.

Local authorities immediately shut down the intersection for the scene clearance process.

CLEARWATER, FL – As of Monday, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission has officially identified the victim whose life was claimed in a hit-and-run boat crash Sunday.

According to ABC Action News, the victim was identified as 41-year-old Jose Castro from Palm Harbor. To recap, the collision took place near the Memorial Causeway bridge. Details showed that a person operating a privately owned boat had rammed into a ferry and then fled the scene.

The fleeing boat driver, later identified as Jeffry Knight, then went to the Belleair Boat Ramp. The ferryboat operator was later identified as  Dennis Kimerer.

CLEARWATER, FL – One hit-and-run boat operator crashed into a ferry on Sunday near the Memorial Causeway Bridge, claiming one life and sending 12 people to a hospital. 

WTSP said The U.S. Coast Guard, 10 ambulances, two medical helicopters, and Clearwater police hurried to the scene. For the injured individuals, two people were flown via the medical helicopter and the rest via ambulances. 

Six people were on the hit-and-run boat, and 45 people were on the ferry. Authorities said the hit-and-run suspect has been identified but have made no mention of any criminal charges.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL – A man riding a motorcycle died after crashing into a traffic sign in the Disston Heights neighborhood early Friday morning.

According to WFLA, St. Petersburg Police responded to the intersection of 22nd Avenue North and 47th Street North just after midnight. Prior to succumbing to his injuries, the man was ejected from his bike.

Officers pronounced the victim dead at the scene and are actively working to determine what caused him to lose control of his motorcycle.

MYAKKA CITY, FL – One person was left with minor injuries after the plane they traveled in crashed into a tree Wednesday morning.

The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office told the Bradenton Herald that the collision happened after 10 a.m. and resulted in a small brush fire. Deputies revealed that the plane had come from a private runway located at 42650 State Road 64 East.

All three occupants were able to safely evacuate the plane after it crashed and did not require hospitalization. Manatee County Fire Rescue crews were able to extinguish the flames.
