SARASOTA, FL – A truck driver failed to maintain his lane, causing him to crash into an SUV and leaving him and four others with serious injuries Tuesday. 

The two-vehicle collision happened after 1 p.m. on State Road 780, according to the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. Florida Highway Patrol said the pickup truck driver had driven in the westbound direction, drifted off the road, and then crashed into the SUV. 

Troopers identified the pickup truck driver as a 28-year-old local to Sarasota and the SUV driver as a woman from Sarasota. The woman had three teenage passengers with her, who were identified as a 13-year-old boy, a 16-year-old boy, and a 16-year-old girl.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL – At least one person was injured in a crash that happened on the Howard Franklin Bridge Wednesday morning.

Florida Highway Patrol told WTSP that they arrived at the scene around 7:15 a.m. and blocked two northbound lanes to accommodate the clean-up process and investigation.

Troopers cleared the scene just before 9:30 a.m. and reopened the area.

TAMPA, FL – Tampa Police were summoned to a hit-and-run crash that happened on I-275 North near SR 60 Sunday, according to WFLA.

The details behind the hit-and-run crash remain scarce. However, based on what officials know so far, it appears that at least three vehicles were involved. EMS crews issued one trauma alert for one individual, but the extent of the injuries has not been disclosed.

CLEARWATER, FL – A person was hospitalized for serious injuries after a moped collision that happened on U.S. 19 Friday.

According to Fox13News, the events unfolded after 6 p.m. when the moped rider lost control of their moped, which caused them to crash into a retaining wall. Seconds later, the moped rider was thrown from their moped.

Clearwater police and Clearwater fire and EMS crews hurried to the scene. After arriving, the ambulance rushed the moped rider to Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital for treatment of potentially life-threatening injuries.

SARASOTA, FL – First responders were called to the scene of a collision between a red car and a semi-truck on Fruitville Road East Friday. 

The collision happened after Sarasota Center Boulevard and prompted emergency crews to shut down all of the eastbound lanes and close one westbound lane, according to My Sun Coast

During the closures, drivers were asked to use Clark Road as an alternative route as delays continued to ensue in both directions.

RUSKIN, FL – The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the details behind a fatal crash that involved a driver crashing into a Ruskin home Sunday.

The fatal crash happened around 8:15 p.m. off ​​Shell Point Road West and 32nd Street Northwest and killed four occupants inside the vehicle, according to ABC Action News.

Deputies later identified the victims as Shannon and James Janus and Cynthia and Richard Wilson. No criminal activity was seen as a factor in Sunday’s deadly collision.

SOUTH TAMPA, FL – A driver who was suspected of DUI was arrested after causing a pedestrian crash in South Tampa on Memorial Day.

According to WFLA, the crash occurred before 3 a.m. at South Howard Avenue at West Azeele Street, which is in the South Howard neighborhood. Preliminary details suggest the driver, for reasons unclear, swerved and then struck a pedestrian behind their car.

Tampa police arrested the driver, and EMS crews transported the pedestrian to a hospital for treatment of serious injuries. The pedestrian has been listed in stable condition.

NORTHEAST TAMPA, FL – A 22-year-old woman, a 3-year-old boy, and a five-year-old boy were left in serious condition after a crash on I-75 that happened on Memorial Day. 

Florida Highway Patrol told ABC Action News that the young woman, who drove a Toyota Camry car, failed to negotiate a curve while driving on the East Fowler Avenue off-ramp. She had lost control of her car while trying to go into northbound I-75 and crashed off the road. 

The woman and the two boys with her, her sons, were thrown from their overturned vehicle.

SARASOTA, FL – A 35-year-old man was killed in a serious motorcycle crash that happened south of Sarasota Christian School in Fruitville Wednesday. 

According to new details from My SunCoast, the events unfolded just before 6:30 p.m. when the 35-year-old man had lost control of his motorcycle while traveling on Turtle Creek Lane. He went into the median and was struck by a vehicle driven by a 20-year-old woman, a local. 

The man was thrown from his motorcycle and suffered fatal injuries at the scene.

SARASOTA, FL – At least one person lost their life after a collision on Honore Road in the Fruitvale neighborhood south of Bahia Vista Street Tuesday. 

According to My SunCoast, the fatal crash seemed to have involved either a bicycle or motorcycle, which was seen blocking the road. At least one fire engine truck and three Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office vehicles responded to the scene. First responders shut down the area and encouraged drivers to seek alternative routes during the clean-up process and investigation. 

Authorities are continuing to investigate the events that led to the fatal crash. At this time, officials have not released the victim’s name or said whether any person involved would face criminal charges.
