ST. PETERSBURG, FL – A Toyota Corolla and a Mazda sedan collided, resulting in one of them striking a man and woman, leading them to die from their injuries Saturday.

This fatal wreck happened before 2:30 p.m. at the 4th Street North and 72nd Avenue North junction in the Fossil Park district, WTSP indicated in a report.

It is unclear which vehicle struck the man and woman, one of whom rode a bicycle.

The man succumbed to fatal wounds at the scene, while the woman was transported to a hospital, where she later died.

The drivers were unharmed. There have been no indications made of citations or pending charges.

Police left the southbound lanes open to traffic but shut down northbound 4th Street for several hours to accommodate the scene clearance process and the ongoing investigation.

The man and woman’s identities have not been disclosed at this time.
