News: Impaired driver hits, injures deputy in Ruskin

RUSKIN, FL – A Hillsborough County deputy was sent to the hospital after getting hit by a male driver who ran a red light and was suspected of being impaired Thursday. 

This collision took place before 4 a.m. on College Avenue along U.S. Highway 41, FOX 13 News reported. The driver who ran a red light – 24-year-old Eduardo Casto – operated a Hyundai SUV. 

Castro was impaired, having a blood alcohol content level of .124 and .119. He was arrested and charged with driving with a valid driver’s license and driving under the influence with personal damage.  

The deputy sustained non-life-threatening injuries and is expected to be OK.
