News: 1 hurt, 81-year-old man killed in Sarasota 2-vehicle crash

by

SARASOTA, FL – One person sustained minor injuries, and an 81-year-old man was left dead following a two-vehicle wreck Thursday.

According to My SunCoast, this collision occurred when the 81-year-old man driving a sedan on westbound Clark Road (also known as State Road 72) failed to yield to oncoming traffic when turning left and collided with a truck hauling a trailer.

Sarasota first responders said the driver of the truck swerved to avoid hitting the sedan, but the sedan initiated contact with the right side of the truck.

The force of the collision caused the truck to flip over, and both vehicles came to rest in the southeast corner of the junction.

The 81-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene, and it is unclear if the truck driver had to go to a hospital for his or her injuries.

Florida Highway Patrol is investigating this crash and has not provided other details at this time.
