WESLEY CHAPEL, FL – One person lost their life following a chain-reaction collision Friday afternoon, May 16, near Wesley Chapel, according to WFTS Tampa Bay.
Florida Highway Patrol said the wreck occurred on the southbound side of Interstate 75 near milepost 277. Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene at around 3:15 p.m.
A preliminary investigation shows a 69-year-old Longboat Key man likely experienced some kind of medical emergency while driving a Tesla Model S southbound.
SOUTH TAMPA, FL – EMS crews rushed a man to a hospital after he was hit by a car while running across the intersection of Kennedy Boulevard and Lois Avenue Sunday.
The male pedestrian is recovering from life-threatening injuries, according to ABC Action News.
The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with Tampa police.
EAST TAMPA, FL – A car crashed into a utility pole, causing it to overturn and leaving 313 people without power on Friday.
The rollover collision took place around 2:15 a.m. at the westbound Hillsborough Avenue and 36th Street intersection, WFLA reports. Images from the source showed a damaged pole and downed power lines.
TECO Energy was able to restore the power around 6:30 a.m.

TAMPA, FL – Tampa Police are investigating two separate collisions that happened Saturday in the Egypt Lake-Leto area that left one person dead.
The deadly crash occurred at the intersection of North Nebraska Avenue and Broad Street East, where a pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle, according to WTSP.
The other collision took place on the railroad tracks at North Florida Avenue and East Busch Boulevard. That is where a CSX train struck an unoccupied car.
TAMPA, FL – A man lost his life in a fatal pedestrian crash in the Highland Pines Park area Friday morning, WFLA reports.
The pedestrian was struck by the car while crossing the intersection of North 50th Street and East 23rd Avenue around 5 a.m. Tampa police said the male driver swerved in an attempt to avoid hitting the walker but could not.
Moments later, the pedestrian succumbed to his injuries.
TAMPA, FL – A 51-year-old woman, who was intoxicated, was arrested after causing a fiery collision that claimed the life of her passenger Monday.
The Tampa Bay Times said the woman had crashed her van into a median on 78th Street North under the Selmon Expressway. The force of the crash caused the van to catch on fire and trapped the woman and her passenger.
Hillsborough County deputies arrived at the scene around 2:30 a.m. and pulled out the occupants. Deputies said the male passenger died at the crash site. He has since been identified as 54-year-old Emilio Alfaro-Herrera. EMS crews rushed the driver to Tampa General Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
TAMPA, FL – Tampa police are investigating the reason why a woman lost control of her gray Honda car and plowed into a home on the 2100th block of Sligh Avenue Monday.
Officers responded to the scene around 6 a.m. A photo from WFLA reveals some slightly dented windows. While the home sustained minor damage, the driver and home occupants were uninjured.

Tampa police told FOX 13 News that they shut down Spruce Street and the I-275 exit for the scene clearance and investigation period.
The police department is working to determine the events leading to the man’s death and has not released his identity at this time.

The collision took place at 5:45 p.m. at the intersection of Tampa East Boulevard & East Broadway Avenue.
