PALMETTO, FL – A 60-year-old riding a bike was left in critical condition after he was shot in the head by a man, who then drove away in the area of 2nd Avenue Friday. 

WTSP said Manatee County deputies responded to the scene around 7:30 p.m. The man who was shot was said to have been in a fight with the man who shot him prior to the shooting. 

The shooter was identified as Leroy Lee Hope Sr. Hope was arrested Saturday for an unrelated DUI charge and will be facing charges for the shooting.

MANATEE COUNTY, FL – A collision involving two trucks on I-275 claimed the life of a 38-year-old man from Cape Coral after 6 a.m. Monday. 

News-Press said a driver of a pickup truck went from southbound I-75 onto westbound I-275 when the left side of his truck collided with the truck driven by the 38-year-old man. The truck operated by the Cape Coral man then went onto the north shoulder and rolled over, ejecting him. As a result, the 38-year-old man was declared dead at the scene. 

It is not immediately clear which driver emerged first on the westbound lanes of I-275.

MANATEE COUNTY, FL – A three-year-old girl was hospitalized for serious injuries following a two-vehicle collision on State Road 62 West Saturday. 

ABC Action News said this crash happened east of County Road 39. A 36-year-old woman had lost control of her vehicle and drifted off the westbound lanes before coming back onto the road and hitting another car in the eastbound lanes. 

The force of the collision also led the woman’s vehicle to rotate and resulted in her crashing into a wooden utility pole. The passenger with her — the 3-year-old girl — was ejected and then rushed to an area hospital.

MANATEE COUNTY, FL – Florida Highway Patrol confirmed that at least one person was injured in a collision on I-75 South at mile marker 220 Monday. 

Troopers arrived at the scene after 7 p.m. and have yet to disclose how many people and vehicles were involved, say if the injuries suffered were major or minor, or reveal the contributing factors.

CORTEZ, FL – Florida Highway Patrol indicated that at least one person passed away in a crash that took place at the Cortez Road West and 115th Street junction Wednesday. 

Troopers were dispatched to the scene before 4 p.m. and arrived at the scene after 4:30 p.m. 

Officials have not indicated the exact cause of this crash, indicated the number of people and automobiles involved, or said if anyone was hurt.

BRADENTON, FL – A motorcyclist was sent to the hospital for serious injuries after crashing into a sedan while trying to do a U-turn Thursday morning. 

This collision took place at the 53rd Avenue East and 47th Street East intersection, according to NBC-2. The sedan driver, a 91-year-old man, was unharmed. 

Officials have not indicated the current condition of the motorcyclist, who was only identified as a 76-year-old man.

BRADENTON, FL – Florida Highway Patrol said that at least one person sustained injuries in a collision in the Esplanade district Tuesday. 

This crash happened around 3 p.m., and troopers arrived at the scene before 3:45 p.m.

MANATEE COUNTY, FL – A man and woman were seriously hurt, and an 11-year-old and 15-year-old boy suffered fatal injuries after a crash that involved heavy rain and a utility pole. 

This fatal wreck occurred on State Road 62 Saturday, WTSP reported. The driver – a 43-year-old man – lost control of his car. It then left the road, and he collided with a utility pole. 

The boys were pronounced dead at the scene, and the man and his front-seat passenger – a 34-year-old woman – were sent to the hospital for treatment.
