News: Hit-and-run driver fatally strikes mail carrier in Fern Cliff

TAMPA, FL – A United States Postal Service carrier lost his life after he was struck by a driver in the Fern Cliff neighborhood who then fled the scene Monday. 

This collision took place in the area of East River Cove Street and North Mulberry Street, according to ABC Action News

Tampa Police confirmed the suspect — an unidentified man — was driving a dark-colored Mercedes sedan when he hit the USPS vehicle. They found the sedan a mile from the collision site. However, they have yet to locate the driver. 

Police said the mail carrier was a man in his 60s. He passed away from his injuries at the scene. At this time, authorities are withholding his name pending notification of next of kin.
