RUSKIN, FL – A 25-year-old man faces DU charges after he crashed into a Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office car, sending the deputy to a hospital Saturday.
HCSO said the events unfolded around 10:30 p.m. when the 25-year-old man, identified as Uriel Garcia Nestor, had ran a stop sign at 15th Street Southeast and then struck the deputy’s vehicle, a 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe, on westbound East College Avenue, which caused it to roll over numerous times and the deputy to be thrown from the vehicle.
HSCO said the deputy, identified as 47-year-old Ivan Clark, received a call concerning a reckless driver and came into the area to investigate.
Upon arrival, medical helicopter personnel took Clark to Tampa General Hospital, where he is recovering and listed in stable condition.
Garcia Nestor was operating a gray 2010 Ford F-150 and was confirmed to have showcased signs of intoxication and also had BAC levels of 0.103 and 0.121. He was arrested and charged with “DUI with Serious Bodily Injury, DUI with Property Damage, and Driving While License Suspended with Serious Bodily Injury.”
