PINELLAS COUNTY, FL – A 68-year-old man lost his life after he was struck by a GMC C5500 pickup truck while crossing U.S. Highway 19 after 9 p.m. Friday.

ABC Action News didn’t specify why the pedestrian was trying to cross, only stating he “walked into the path of the truck,” which led the driver of the truck — a 33-year-old man from Clearwater — to strike the pedestrian.

The pedestrian was declared dead at the scene.

There have been no mentions of pending charges at this time.

Updates will be posted should they become available.
