LAKE ALFRED, FL – According to WTSP, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a deadly collision between a BMW and a dump truck that occurred on Old Polk City Road near Florida 557 Friday morning.
The driver of a silver BMW was heading west on Old Polk City Road when they entered the eastbound lanes to pass cars, where they collided head-on with a dump truck around 6 a.m.
Both vehicles ended up under trees on the south shoulder of the road following the collision. The sedan then burst into flames.
First responders pronounced the BMW driver dead at the scene.
The dump truck driver was hospitalized with minor injuries.
