News: Alleged impaired wrong-way driver causes Seffner injury crash

SEFFNER, FL – A 22-year-old man was suspected to be under the influence when he drove the wrong way on I-4 in Seffner, causing a five-vehicle wreck with injuries Friday.

This collision happened before 3:45 a.m. when the driver – Arda Sengun – drove east on westbound I-4 and crashed into a Mercedes traveling in the middle lane, according to WFLA

A driver of a pickup truck braked in an attempt to avoid the initial crash. However, a driver rear-ended the pickup truck driver. The impact led the pickup truck to rotate on the shoulder before hitting a parked tractor-trailer.

The flatbed truck also rolled over, and its driver became entrapped.

Three people were hospitalized for non-life-threatening injuries. It is unclear if Sengun was injured. Florida Highway Patrol did say he had a blood alcohol content of 0.187. As a result, he was arrested and charged with DUI with serious bodily injury.

Officials shut down the westbound lanes for several hours before allowing drivers to pass on the left shoulder around 7 a.m.
